Abducted BUK Lecturer Regains Freedom

Mr. Saminu Aliyu-Kiri, a lecturer at the Department of Computer Science in Bayero University, Kano who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Kaduna State last Thursday has regained his freedom.

Confirming his release, the Director of Public Affairs of the University, Malam Ahmed Shehu, said the lecturer was released on October 7 and had since been reunited with his family in Kano.

Shehu, who did not state whether ransom was paid before the release, said it was by the miracle of God that the lecturer regained his freedom.

Aliyu-Kiri, of the Faculty of Computer Science of the university, was kidnapped alongside two other persons, while on his way back from an official assignment in Shaki, Oyo State.
