Ex Super Eagles Keeper Charges Team Ahead Of World Cup

Ex-Super Eagles goalkeeper Idah Peterside, on Wednesday urged the team to maintain their lead in Group by winning Algeria in their next home game.

Peterside, also a former Enyimba of Aba goalkeeper, said in Johannesburg, South Africa, that winning their first game away from home was a big advantage for the Eagles.

He said that though the encounter against Algeria would be tough, the team could win it and top the group.

“Algeria is the number one team in Africa, but I believe the Super Eagles can win them at home.

“The Eagles need that win to maintain the lead in their group. The Eagles need to be focused to get all the maximum points,’’ Peterside said.

Peterside, who also played for Israeli club, Macabi Hazelia, said the current Super Eagles team was good and had the potential to qualify for Russia 2018 World Cup.

“We have a good team now, but my advice is that as we play against Algeria, we must be very careful because they are still the number one team in Africa.

“We need to get the points, especially after winning away. If we win Algeria, we have set the pace,’’ he said.

The ex-international said that Super Eagles needed the support and prayers of all Nigerians to qualify for the World Cup.

“We have a great chance of making it to the next World Cup,’’ Peterside said.
