World class star: Mourinho convinced me to join Man Utd with these seven words – originally posted on olofofounited.com
Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has opened up about how Jose Mourinho convinced him to join Manchester United during the summer transfer window.
The pair worked together at Inter Milan and have shared a good relationship since then. The world class striker revealed that Mourinho was a big reason why he decided to come to the Premier League.
Ibrahimovic was linked with a move to Old Trafford last season as well, but the Swedish star feels that time was not right back then. But the arrival of the ‘special one’ has changed things.
The 35-year-old has vowed to win trophies with Mourinho at Manchester United soon and labeled each other as winners. He also mentioned how Mourinho did not have to work hard to convince him. Ibrahimovic revealed the seven words Mourinho used to bring him to Manchester.
Speaking to Daily Mirror, Zlatan Ibrahimovic said:
There were talks about me coming to United one year ago, that is correct. But I didn’t believe in it then because it was not the right moment. Then they get the Special One and as and when the Special One calls you and when he starts to talk to you, you are already convinced.
He didn’t need to talk a lot to convince me. It was only enough to call me and say, ‘Listen, I’m waiting for you in Manchester’, and I was coming. I know what he wants, his demands and I know what he goes for. He is a winner. I see myself as a winner also. I like to win. I’ll do everything to win. He thinks the same thing. We won when we were younger and we will win when we are a little bit older. The more time we spend together, the more time we train together, the better we get.
So far Ibrahimovic has had an impressive start to life in the Premier League and has been the main source of goals for his team. He has scored 5 goals in 8 appearances for Manchester United in all competitions. The Manchester United striker will be looking to make his mark when his side travels to Anfield tomorrow.
